EXHIBITION CIVIS MARITIMUS X ITINÉRANCES FOTO (IF)

29/05/2024

Organised by the non-profit organization Eyes Wide Open (part of The Eyes label) as part of the Itinérance Foto (IF) programme in Sète, the “Civis Maritimus, 1ère vague” exhibition invited four young artists from 1 to 20 May to take a step back from our conventional perception of the marine environment.

The winners of the Ronan Guillou 2023 Grants, Aliki Christoforou and Charles Thiefaine, presented the results of their residency in Sète. With the series ‘Les particules, conte humain d’une eau qui meurt’, Manon Lanjouère offered us a poetic and photographic manifesto in favor of preserving the oceans. Alice Pallot confronted us with the environmental and health problems posed by green algae in a series of photographs based on the beaches of the Bay of Saint-Brieuc and the surrounding area in winter. She also unveiled a second part of her series.

On this occasion, the two winners of the Ronan Guillou 2024 Grants were presented: Chiara Indelicato and Cécile Smetana, who will be in residence in Sète in May and June to carry out their projects combining human and marine worlds.
