SPACE UTOPIA & POST NATURAL HISTORY de Vincent Fournier
After studying sociology and visual arts, Vincent Fournier graduated from the National School of Photography in Arles in 1997: the medium became his favorite tool in parallel with 3D printing, video or installations. Vincent Fournier’s images invite us to think about the evolution of our world and the way we perceive time. His images question our past and future utopias: What expectations are we harboring for our future and is the future already over? Space Utopia is a photographic odyssey, spanning from 2007 to 2017, which unveils the most iconic and best-preserved space centers and observatories around the world. Vincent Fournier portrays with aestheticism and poetry the history of space exploration, from the Apollo and Sputnik programs to the future Mars mission of NASA.
Post Natural History raises the question of the border between natural and artificial with the development of the technologies of the Living. His images are both rigorous and sensitive, documentary and staged. He explores futuristic fiction and discovers in our present, or in the past, “flashes of the future”. In these imaginary archives, memory works in both directions: in the past but also in the future. A world in which we remember what has not yet happened, what will happen tomorrow. Special editions (and original) of each work, real artistic objects, will be available at the bookstore.
