The Eyes Talks, a podcast that tackles contemporary societal issues through the prism of photography and photo books, hosted by Véronique Prugnaud, associate director of The Eyes label.
For this first episode of The Eyes Talks, we invited artist Oleñka Carrasco to talk about her book “Patria” on the occasion of her exhibition at Les Rencontres d’Arles.
Oleñka Carrasco’s book PATRIA is a moving account of bereavement, and of the identity issues it raises in the broader context of the history of Venezuela and its exiles. As the pages turn, Oleñka’s intimate family circle widens towards a universal theme that touches us all: exile, belonging to a homeland, to a land.
Oleñka Carrasco is the winner of the Prix Photo Folio Review 2022 of the Rencontres de la photographie, Arles. Patria is exhibited at the Rencontres de photographie d’Arles from July 3 to September 24, 2023, Espace Croisière.
