The protection, restoration and enhancement of the Polish photographic heritage are the missions of the foundation
The Archaeology of Photography Foundation is one of the rare institutions (and by far the most important) exclusively dedicated to photography, in spite of limited spaces and staff. In a remote corner of Muranów, the non-profit private foundation and gallery achieves museum standards. Founded in 2008, the institution’s purpose is to scout and digitalize Polish photographic heritage. It now holds the archives of many eminent photographers including Jerzy Lewczyński, Zbigniew Dłubak and Zofia Chomętowska, but also Wojciech Zamecznik, whose recently inaugurated exhibition in Switzerland was curated by the foundation in association with the Musée de l’Elysée in Lausanne.
