TARA, LES ARTISTES RÉVÈLENT L’OCÉAN
TARA, LES ARTISTES RÉVÈLENT L’OCÉAN
This book, produced in collaboration with the Tara Océan Foundation, is a retrospective of the artists who have been on board the Tara schooner over the past 20 years. It’s a unique opportunity to shed light on the Ocean, its little-known biodiversity, its role in the climate machine and the pollution that impacts it today, through the prism of art.

The book is organized around five main themes: Pollution, Landscapes, Living beings, Sensitivity and Travel diaries. As a counterpoint to these artistic proposals, elements of scientific enlightenment extend the perception of the works, bringing together the scientific rigor of these marine expeditions with the imagination of the artists.
This book is part of the collection that extends the Civis Maritimus program created by the Eyes Wide Open association, whose aim is to encourage greater awareness of the link between humans and the marine world, and more broadly to stimulate a sense of citizenship of the sea.

This boat is so convivial, as are the saloon and galley. A good thing, because they all spend a lot of time on board, sailing around the world, often under sail. As children sail their little model boats around the Jardins des Tuileries basin, they get a real feel for the power of the wind. They need to be aware of the immense potential of this energy, which not only makes it possible to have fun, but also to move around the world in ways other than by consuming fossil fuels.

That’s why these are not calls for projects, but calls for applications, to give a real free carte blanche. Projects can change on board, with experience and encounters. We haven’t always seen the end result; it’s a bit out of our hands, and that’s all to the good. This book is the first to bring together the twenty years of our residencies.
