8/04/2024

Organized by Eyes Wide Open, the Civis Maritimus, 1ère vague exhibition invites four young artists to take a step back from our conventional perception of the marine environment.

Ronan Guillou 2023 grant winners Aliki Christoforou and Charles Thiefaine will present the results of their residency in Sète. With the series “Les particules, conte humain d’une eau qui meurt”, Manon Lanjouère offers us a poetic and photographic manifesto in favor of ocean preservation. Alice Pallot confronts us with the environmental and health issues of green algae in a photographic series that takes the beaches of the Bay of Saint-Brieuc and the surrounding area as its creative space, in winter. She will also unveil a second part of her series.

The occasion will also see the announcement and presentation of the two 2024 Ronan Guillou Scholarship winners, who will be in residence in Sète in May and June to carry out their projects associating human beings and the marine world.

The exhibition will also be the occasion for the first Agora Civis Maritimus, inviting artists on stage to share their projects around the marine world.
