INSTALLATION AND MEETING AT THE BOOKSHOP LA COMÈTE
From the unique piece to the classic edition, Sophie Zénon is invited to talk to us about the essential and singular place occupied by the book and especially the artist’s book in her production. On this occasion, she will bring limited editions and produce for the Comet a small installation based on her latest work.
Questions of landscape, memory and identity are at the heart of Sophie Zénon’s artistic research. From series to series, – from L’Homme-Paysage (Alexandre) to Dans le miroir des rizières (Maria) to Pour vivre ici, her approach is entirely driven by the spun idea that constructing landscape through photography is to simultaneously study nature and photography, to explore both concretely and experimentally, rather than trying to reproduce pre-existing landscapes photographically…
Through her successive researches that open various breaches within the categories of landscape genre or historical archive, she builds a memorial landscape and scenography. Through a protean production (photographic series, installations, books, videos), she weaves a close link between intimate history and great history. In her works, bodies are spectres, bearers of historical and political stakes.
