VISIT OF THE EXHIBITION “PHOTOGRAPHIE, ARME DE CLASSE” IN THE PRESENCE OF THE CURATORS OF THE EXHIBITION

In the continuation of the latest issue of The Eyes Magazine “Images and powers”, The Eyes Club invites you to discover the exhibition at the photography gallery in Beaubourg with the curators of exhibitions.

Articulated around thematic axes and formal series, through a selection of thirty unpublished documents and a hundred works where the great names of modern photography meet, the exhibition questions the passage of a picturesque iconography of poverty towards a social conscience: from the Paris of Eugène Atget to the sharp eye of the Russian author Ilya Ehrenbourg, witness as subjugated as he is touched by the misery of the capital at the beginning of the years 1930.

Finally, the recurring iconographic themes, from the image of the worker to the representation of the struggling collective without forgetting the strategies of the illustrated left-wing press (Regards, Vu), make it possible to complete an incomplete image of documentary photography and between the wars and relying on recent discoveries.
