CAMILLE GHARBI’S BOOK IS AVAILABLE ON THE EYES WEBSITE!
Faire face. Histoires de violences conjugales is a photographic project carried out between 2017 and 2022, on the issue of violence against women and domestic violence.
This first monograph by Camille Gharbi brings together three series of photographs that take stock of domestic violence, “Proofs of Love”, question the victims’ paths to reconstruction, “A Room of One’s Own”, as well as the possibilities of prevention and deconstruction of the cycle of violence in their perpetrators, “Monsters Do Not Exist”.
Each of these series evokes in its own way the reality of this violence, its intensity, its banality. They are based on the same conviction: domestic violence is a terrible reality, but things can change if we take the trouble to look this reality in the face.
Through these individual and singular stories, told in images and words, it is society as a whole that must “face up”, to deconstruct systems of thought, encourage the search for constructive solutions, and do things differently.
