MEETING POINT – (RE)LISTEN TO PODCASTING PROGRAMS
MEETING POINT is a series of encounters organized by The Eyes in collaboration with the MEP in order to cross different perspectives on photographic practices in their diversity. Held four Thursdays a year around the MEP exhibitions, the Meeting Points are conceived as a lively exchange of ideas on contemporary issues. Structured around a major theme, chronicles and pastilles, each Meeting Point is an opportunity to develop a subject from an international and transdisciplinary perspective.
Every Thursday evening at 7 pm, from August 27 to September 17, a Meeting Point will be broadcast in podcast format on the websites of The Eyes and the MEP.
MEETING POINT #1 – THE NEW WAVE OF CHINESE PHOTOGRAPHY
In the digital age, a new generation is taking over the photographic medium in a country that has undergone spectacular liberalization. Several currents exist both in China and abroad with the quest for new spaces of freedom as a backdrop. What does this generation, born after 1985 and which plays subtly to upset the limits of public opinion, have to say?
Guests: Yingguang Guo (artist exhibited at the MEP), Leo de Boisgisson (lecturer and journalist), Zhen Shi (publisher and artist) and Pixy Liao (artist), in a conversation moderated by Véronique Prugnaud and Vincent Marcilhacy (The Eyes).

meeting point #2 – photo publishing
Freelance photo publishing: still a stimulating sector for emerging editors and photographers?
A niche market, independent photo publishing is based on a fluctuating business model. Despite its fragility, new innovative publishers are emerging and more and more emerging artists are putting photo books at the heart of their artistic practice.
The guests of the Grand Entretien, both publishers and artists, will share their experiences and thoughts on the prospects of a sector that is both attractive and ambivalent.
Guests : Adele Gratacos (artist exhibited at the MEP), Rebekka Deubner (artist and publisher – Le Rayon Vert), Sonia Berger (freelance publisher – Dalpine) and Inès de Bordas (founder and publisher – Silence Editions) in a major interview moderated by Véronique Prugnaud (The Eyes).
MEETING POINT #3 Traversées – THE POWER OF THE PHOTOGRAPHER TO (BY)Pass BORDERS
The photographic subject is a point of view, embodied by the identity / history of the photographer.
How does the personal story influence the photographer’s creation?
How does the photographer use the medium to exchange points of view, to realize cultural, intimate, physical crossings…?
How can photography interact with the presence (or absence) of a border?
Guests: Hassan Hajjaj, Jane Evelyn Atwood, Camille Lévêque and Ananias Léki Dago in the Grand Entretien moderated by Taous Dahmani, Vincent Marcilhacy and Véronique Prugnaud.

Echoing Manon Lanjouère’s 2019 exhibition at the MEP Studio, Meeting Point #4, in its Grand Entretien, questions the notion of “the scientist as the driving force behind photographic research,” highlighting the relationship that artists have with science and scientific heritage.
Guests: Manon Lanjouère (artist), Raphaël Dallaporta (photographer, winner of the Prix Niepce 2019), Lewis Bush (photographer, winner of the BMW 2019 residency) and Alain Fleischer (director of Le Fresnoy).
